Target Audience Brief For The Music Video

Indie Pop

Age- Generally the target audience age for this genre is between 16-22 years old, the reason for this is social media. Record labels usually release short clips (teasers) of new songs/ music videos onto various social media platforms as a form of advertising. Social media is mostly popular with the younger generation meaning this is a great, inexpensive marketing strategy.

Gender- The audience varies between male and females and doesn't strive to specifically target one gender. However, this genre originated from Indie Rock and girl group pop back in the 1960's.

Social Demographic- The genre is targeted towards those that attend higher education usually around the ages of 16-22 years old. This becomes a very independent age for these people meaning that they are able to connect to the whole Indie genre as the genre is to do with independent freedom which is something that people at this age want to achieve. Because this audience are made up of teenagers and young adults that have part-time jobs that are not their future expectations meaning that I would say the social grade for this audience would be social grade D.

Hobbies- The majority of the target audience will usually be artistic and creative that maybe have a strong interest in art or fashion. They will usually have unusual hobbies that potentially contradict stereotypes of their classmates.
